Sooooo….I found this gorgeous DIY ruffled tree skirt on Pinterest and it honestly didn’t look too hard so I thought I would give it a try! The tutorial online said it the entire project takes about 4 hours start to finish and like I said it’s gorgeous so I went for it.
I should have known things were not looking good when I couldn’t even decide on a fabric to use. I stood in the fabric department of Hobby Lobby looking like an idiot taking pictures and sending them to my sister! I finally picked one and went to get it cut and there was this to-die-for red burlap that I thought was perfect!! So I bought it.
I got that gorgeous piece of deep red burlap home and stared at it for about a week before I decided to try my tree skirt idea. The DIY tutorial looked easy enough so I started Sunday afternoon and went for a couple hours and I barely had one row of ruffles done!! How could this be so hard you ask? Burlap and hot glue don’t mix.
In fact, I’m pretty sure I have no fingerprints on my left hand. And there is red burlap fuzz all over my house!!
It is now Tuesday night and I only have 3 1/2 rows of ruffles done. Burlap is overrated. While beautiful it is impossible to work with! I can’t wait to be finished with this project!! I’m never crafting with burlap again!!
Unless the project is just super cute.
And doesn’t involve hot glue.
Here’s to hoping it’s done before Christmas!
